FOOTPATHS
(TYPICAL DESIGN)

Permcon footpaths and walkways manage rainwater effectively while remaining safe and durable year-round. Water drains through the surface rather than pooling, reducing puddles, runoff and edge erosion – especially in high-use or shaded areas.

Our footpaths are used across parks, schools, subdivisions and town centres throughout New Zealand. Each installation is tailored to its setting, taking into account pedestrian traffic, drainage requirements and local ground conditions. Permcon also doesn’t contribute to site coverage, which makes it ideal for infill and intensification projects.

Is permeable concrete slippery in wet conditions?
No. Easily maintained, Permcon offers reliable grip in all weather, making it safe for public paths and high-use areas.

FAQs

What are permeable concrete footpaths?

Permeable concrete footpaths are pathways made from a specialised concrete mix that allows water to drain through the surface. This helps reduce water runoff, prevent puddles, and improve drainage.

Where can permeable concrete footpaths be used?

Permeable concrete footpaths are suitable for parks, residential areas, commercial developments, public walkways, and urban landscapes. They provide a durable and environmentally friendly solution for pedestrian pathways.

How do permeable concrete footpaths help with drainage?

The porous structure of the concrete allows rainwater to pass through, reducing surface water buildup and easing pressure on stormwater systems. This helps prevent flooding and soil erosion.

Are permeable concrete footpaths durable?

Yes, permeable concrete footpaths are designed to withstand regular foot traffic and varying weather conditions. They provide a long-lasting, low-maintenance surface.

Do permeable footpaths get slippery when wet?

No, permeable concrete has a textured surface that provides grip, making it a safe option in wet conditions. The ability to drain water also reduces the risk of surface water pooling.

Can permeable concrete footpaths be customised?

Yes, they are available in different colours, textures, and finishes to suit various landscape designs and aesthetic preferences.

What maintenance is required for permeable concrete footpaths?

Routine cleaning, such as sweeping or occasional pressure washing, helps keep the surface free from debris that could block water flow and affect permeability.

Are permeable concrete footpaths environmentally friendly?

Yes, they help reduce stormwater runoff, support natural groundwater recharge, and minimise environmental impact by allowing water to filter through rather than running off into drains.

Can permeable concrete footpaths handle heavy foot traffic?

Yes, they are built to be strong and durable, making them suitable for high-use areas such as parks, shopping centres, and public walkways.

Do permeable concrete footpaths crack over time?

When properly installed, they are resistant to cracking due to their design, which allows water to drain rather than accumulate and cause stress on the surface

How long does it take to install a permeable concrete footpath?

The installation time depends on the size of the project, site conditions, and curing time, but our team ensures a smooth and efficient process.
