TENNIS & BASKETBALL COURTS
CONCRETE BASE – Underneath goes 100mm of Permcon permeable concrete. This is the clever bit – rain goes straight through rather than sitting on top. Means you’re back playing sooner after wet weather.
DRAINAGE LAYER – Next down is 100mm of washed drainage aggregate (typically DM40/20 Greywackie). Has to be the right gear – regular aggregate won’t cut it for proper drainage.
GROUND LEVEL – Just your existing soil underneath it all. Depending on how stable this is, we’ll know what groundwork’s needed.
FILTER CLOTH – A polypropylene fabric, which allows water to pass through. It also assists in preventing contamination of the sub base when surrounded by clay soil.

Need a decent tennis or basketball court? PCNZ builds courts that actually hold up. No cracks appearing after the first winter, no puddles forming in the corners – just a solid playing surface that does what it’s supposed to.
We’ve put in courts all over the place. Backyard half-courts for kids to practice on, full-sized ones for schools that get hammered every day during term. The surface we use is tough enough for proper games but still gives you the right ball bounce and doesn’t wreck your knees.
Here’s the thing – once it’s in, it’s done. No resealing every few years. Lines don’t fade. Drainage actually works so you’re not waiting days after rain to play again. We sort out all the groundwork properly first time round because there’s nothing worse than a court that starts lifting or cracking after a couple of seasons. You want to play tennis or basketball, not spend your weekends fixing the court.
